Disabled people in villages around Greater Giyani Municipality had a chance to improve their lives on the 2nd May 2013, as Nan Hua Temple donated 15 wheelchairs to some of them. The community of Makosha village gathered in their numbers to witness this event.
Addressing the gathering, Venerable Hui Fang, Director & Abbot of Nanhua Temple, told the audience how happy Nan Hua Temple is to see people’s lives changed for the better. He said that the temple will continue to support the Giyani community not only with wheelchairs, but also with teaching them computer skills. He announced that 10 people from Giyani will be given an opportunity to come and study at Nan Hua Academy in Bronkhorstspruit, for free, and Nan Hua Temple will also provide free accommodation and meals for the duration of their studies at Nan Hua Academy. Upon completion of their studies and obtaining their MOS certificates, these individuals will return to Giyani to become computer course facilitators there. The temple will donate computers for the community skills development.
Cheers and applause roared in the hall after the announcement, and then the Mayor of Great Giyani promised to provide the transport for the learners to Bronkhorstspruit.
The Mayor also said that he appreciated the efforts made by Nan Hua Temple in assisting the youth and people living with physical disabilities. He promised that the local government of Greater Giyani will continue to work hand-in-hand with local NPO’s in order to effectively address the challenges of poverty in Giyani. He said that Nan Hua Temple is already a part of the family of Giyani community, and will be always welcome in Giyani.
