To achieve one of the aims of Fo Guang Shan: “To Benefit Society through Charitable Programs” on 21st September 2012 at 10:00 am, Guidance Master of Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA), Pretoria Chapter, Ven Hui Xing, together with some members donated 5 wheelchairs to New Hope School in Pretoria, about 50 km away from Nan Hua Temple.
Ven Hui Xing and the members of BLIA were warmly welcomed by the school administrators, faculty members, and students. Mr. Jordaan, on behalf of the school thanked Nan Hua Temple, and said: “Many years ago we attended some activities of Nan Hua Temple, and also received a generous donation of some wheelchairs. Today, Nan Hua Temple is helping us again by donating 5 wheelchairs for our students, and we are very grateful for the doctrine and spirit of Buddhist compassion.”
Ven Hui-Xing pointed-out that the spirit of compassion runs through all religions, irrespective of culture or language, so that we can all work with each other in harmony. He also said that we hope the wheelchairs we donated today will assist the students, with the help of their teachers & parents, to achieve better results and success in life.
At the end of the donation ceremony, Ven Hui Xing led all the participants in singing the song of "Namo Amitabha" for world peace and a lot of health, happiness, peace & success to all present.
