The Durban division of BLIA (Buddha’s Light International Association) recently celebrated the birthday of the Great Compassionate Bodhisattva by reaching out with compassion to those in need in their area. Under the leadership of the division head, Mr. Lin Zheng Shen, the division organised a charity event where over a hundred people with physical disability,
from all walks of life, received wheelchairs from BLIA Durban. Among them were also some individuals from rural areas who were transported to the event by the division.
After the spiritual chanting of the Great Six-word Mantra,by the compassionate Venerable Master Yi Chun (the deputy secretary-general of BLIA in Africa) said in her speech, “Today is the birthday of the Great Compassionate Bodhisattva, and I am pleased to have spent this day with you in such a meaningful way. I strongly believe that the Great Compassionate Bodhisattva, who has witnessed the sufferings in our world, will continue to bless us with strength and courage to overcome the challenges we face.”
The supervisor of the BLIA Durban division, Ms. Xue Yan Fu, then used this opportunity to thank the division head, praising his effort in leading the division; enabling members in attaining both, merits and wisdom - and most importantly demonstrating that many Chinese people, who are here for business opportunities, are willing to make a contribution to the local community this auspicious event is just one example of such contribution of love and care.
