NAN HUA TEMPLE AND BLIA’S WINTER DONATIONS IN WITBANK

On a very cold Saturday, 9 June 2012, the monks, nuns, staff, Buddhist Light International Association’s (BLIA) volunteers and various benefactors of Nan Hua Temple, situated in Bronkhorstspruit, set off to Coronation Park, an informal settlement outside Witbank, Mpumalanga.

The Group was joined by the Representative of Taipei Liaison Office in South Africa, Mr Michael PY Hsu, the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Councillors Enisa, Abby and Patrick. Councillor Patrick Mashiane was also the programme director for the event.

Speaking at the event, Mr Huang, one of the benefactors, said that the group was assisting the people of Coronation Park because of their need, and that all people were equally created, that underneath our skin, we were all of the same colour.

Another benefactor of Nan Hua Temple and the winter donations, Mrs Sherry Chen, said that she hoped that the humble donation would make a difference, even if it’s a small one, to the people of Coronation Park.

7th December, 9 o’clock in the morning, the vice chairwomen of BLIA, Mrs. Fang from Pretoria and temple manager venerable master Hui Xing travelled to Myahato disabled home in Ekangala. They donated 10 wheelchairs and 4 crutches. Even volunteers from the neighbouring disabled home participated in the ceremony which came to an average of 60 people.
The disabled home showed their gratitude to the Nan Hua Temple by setting up a tent in the morning for shade and then sang a couple of songs of welcome and gratitude. RELIEVE FOR THREE HUNDRED FAMILIES IN DURBAN

On the 31th July 2011This winter is especially cold, but unlike the weather The Durban Buddhist Association's loves glows warmly. After the June donation of wheelchairs, this donation event was held at the Sie Chier High School in which three hungered families received aid.

The Durban Buddhist Association donated to each family the following : 5kgs of rice, 2Ls cooking oil, knitted woolen hats, woolen scarves, jerseys, blankets, sweets and cool drinks.

DURBAN : WHEELCHAIR DONATION

Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA), Durban charter brought much needed freedom for the disabled. Two events were held on the 11th of June. The first of which was held at Chelsea Primary school in the morning in which 49 disabled people accepted the donated wheelchairs, these disabled also came from disadvantaged backgrounds, later at the second event held at Greytown and District Child & Family Welfare Society 8 people accepted wheelchairs.

PROVINCAL CHAIRMAN VISITS HIS OLD SCHOOL WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF BLIA

On 23 April 2010 the Deputy Secretary General of BLIA for Africa, Venerable Yi Chun, and the Abbot Venerable Hui Fang led more than ten members of BLIA to Zamazama High School (in Limpopo Province) to attend a ceremony of computer and winter relief donations. This event had been initiated by the Chairman of the National Council of Provinces Mr. Mahlangu, who wished to visit his former school and assist with donations. He had asked MP Sherry Chen to contact BLIA to arrange this event.
After arriving at the school gate they were welcomed by the school band and the enthusiastic students, who were so excited that they did not notice the autumn cold. Apart from the NCOP Chairman Mahlangu, there were almost fifty VIPs present including MP Sherry Chen, Provincial Education MEC Mr.

HEART OF LOVE WITHOUT BOUNDARIES WHEELCHAIRS DONATION IN LESOTHO

Just thirty kilometers (forty minutes) drive away from Bloemfontein is another small Southern African country called Lesotho.
On 16 April 2010 Venerable Hui Fang led Lesotho BLIA chapter Supervisor Yan Mei Zhi, Chapter President Yan Mei Zhen, Chapter Vice President Lai Hui Mei together with Johannesburg Chapter President Ping De Man and others, in crossing the border to Maseru, Lesotho. They went straight on to Seleso village, where they donated wheelchairs to St. Angela Cheshire’s home, Lesotho National Disabled Association and Senkatana center. A total of twenty wheelchairs were donated.

BLIA BENEFITS HEAVENLY AFRICAN HEARTS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES

On 15 April 2010, Bloemfontein BLIA Chapter in the Free State Province organized two wheelchair donations events. Although it rained the events were not affected and no one left due to the rain.
Early that morning the Abbot, Venerable Hui Fang together with Venerable Hui Liao led supervisor Huang Zhong Yong and Chapter President Wu Zi Ying to the Tokoloho Disabled Center, Botshabelo Township for the wheelchair donation. The Center takes care of people with mental and physical disabilities. Wheelchairs were donated to three children suffering from paralysis. Although the children could not speak nor move to express their gratitude, their eyes and the brilliant smile on their faces warmed everyone’s hearts.
