On the 30th March, the Nan Hua Academy hosted a graduation ceremony, together with the Witbank computer college, and celebrated the graduation of over 80 learners who completed the free Microsoft Office Course NHA has been offering for almost 2 years to interested & deserving, young, local students.
In his speech, the Manager of Nan Hua Temple, Venerable Master Hui Xing, emphasized that knowledge is power, but working experience is just as important - and that he wishes the graduates a prosperous careers in the future, in which they will be able to make use of the knowledge gained at the academy.
Some previous NHA graduates were invited to join this joyful ceremony. One of them was Michael, who got a job as a translator in court after graduating from the academy. He said that his job requires him to make use of computer, and that he wouldn’t have gotten this job without his new skills obtained at NHA, and he reiterated the point that computer literacy is very important in today’s working environment.
The ceremony ended on a high note as the graduates took a group photo and enjoyed the lunch afterwards. The temple also arranged a special tour for the learners to help them understand what Buddhism is and the contribution of Nan Hua Temple to the local communities.
